Brief Project Summary:

The investigators will conduct this project at the NDSU Carrington Research Extension Center (CREC). Investigators will use unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) with color, infrared and thermal sensors to collect imagery throughout the growing season from fields and research plots.
The primary goal will be demonstrating that UAS-collected imagery can used effectively on field-scale during the growing season to identify crop problems such as iron deficiency chlorosis, nitrogen deficiencies, relative yield potential, soybean cyst nematode damage, and compare the relative impacts of saline-affected areas on soybean growth and yield. The investigators will correlate UAS imagery with satellite...

Information And Results
Project Deliverables

This field research will generate important information on the effectiveness of UAS-generated imagery for soybean crop management. Soybean producers will be able to use the results from this project to evaluate the effectiveness of UAS imagery, both in negotiating with crop consultants selling UAS imagery, and to help determine whether or not to purchase UAS for their farming operations.

Final Project Results

The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years. And financial information after seven years. All pertinent information is in the final report or if you want more information, please contact the project lead at your state soybean organization or principal investigator listed on the project.
