The project will have a total duration of 36 months, and we propose the following timeline for the different component of the project (number of circles is proportional to overall effort involved in each task):
Note that data collection during April-Sept is difficult because producers are typically very busy during the crop season, hence, we will focus our efforts in collecting the data during the winter time. In turn, efforts spent on data assimilation will be greatest after data collection (that is, cleaning and inputting of the producer-reported data into a digital database). Still, the data assimilation and data analysis components of the proposed project will start from the very beginning of this project, by assessing the available statistical methods that we will subsequently apply to the data and screening existing soil and weather databases to determine the most appropriate data sources and to develop methods to extract and quality control that soil and weather data that will be used for the subsequent analysis. Dissemination of results will not start until the Year 2 of the project, after analysis of the data collecting in Year 1. Dissemination will increase gradually in Years 2 and 3 as the database includes more years and locations.
