We expect results of this project will benefit a wide variety of stakeholders from genomics researchers to producers. It is expected that we will expand and utilize the knowledge base needed to improve genetic control of soybean resistance to disease. We expect to provide information and materials to soybean breeders with enhanced resistance to allow the development of soybean varieties with improved disease resistance and seed quality. Further, BPMV constructs and transgenic plants produced by this project will be made available to soybean researchers under the appropriate constraints imposed by regulators. This is expected to provide enabling technology to soybean researchers to discern genetic control of other important traits in soybean. Further, we will coordinate research through periodic meetings to allow discussion of results and analyze solutions to challenges.
