Host resistance is the most effective and economic means to manage SCN. There are many soybean cultivars with resistance derived from PI 88788 available to the Wisconsin grower. The ability of SCN populations to develop on a resistant variety, or virulence, is characterized using the Hg-Type system.
The goal of this continuing project is to preserve the usefulness of the PI 88788 and Peking source of resistance for Wisconsin growers by preventing SCN population shifts toward greater virulence.
