Brief Project Summary:

The goal of this project is to improve understanding of how to profitably manage cover crops. Studies will be established to evaluate how the timing of cover crops or winter annual weed removal interacts with soybean planting date. The project will evaluate the response of common cover crop species to residual herbicides that may affect successful cover crop establishment. Specific objectives include: developing recommendations for when cover crops should be terminated relative to soybean planting date; developing response charts of cover crops to commonly used residual herbicides; and to determine if a dense winter annual weed infestation can serve the same ecological purpose of a planted cover crop.

Final Project Results

The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years. And financial information after seven years. All pertinent information is in the final report or if you want more information, please contact the project lead at your state soybean organization or principal investigator listed on the project.
