Information And Results
Project Deliverables

Preliminary results of analysis of data will be distributed to participants and collaborators prior to the Annual Meeting of the Uniform Soybean Tests – Southern States. The Annual Meeting will be held in conjunction with the Soybean Breeders Workshop in February. The final formatted report will be distributed soon after all corrections have been finalized. A PDF version of the report will be posted online and distributed to interested persons and organizations.

Final Project Results

Update:
Project Status –
1. The Excel formatted results of the 2014 trials were sent to private breeders who had requested a copy on March 19, 2015.
2. A pdf version of the 2014 Annual Report Book (2nd version with correction to one table) was sent to participants and collaborators on May 14, 2015 and hard copies of the report were mailed about May 14, 2015. The annual report is available online.
3. Seed for the 2015 trials was shipped to collaborators and participants in March and April 2015.
4. Seven tests were planted at Stoneville in April 2015, harvested and the data was reported.
5. Stem canker testing by me at Stoneville, MS. The trial was planted May 2, 2016. The trial was inoculated with infested toothpicks, evaluated and the data was reported. Dr. Shuxian Li provided a new strain of the pathogen which was more successful than what we had used before.
6. Data from 2015 trial was received, organized, validated and analyzed.
7. A draft of the Uniform Maturity Group IV and V results was sent on January 19, 2016. The draft analysis of all the Preliminary Trials was sent on January 22, 2016. The remainder of the agronomic data for the UT was received on Jan 25, 2016 and the draft analysis for all trials was sent on January 26, 2016. These results lacked protein and oil data.
8. Protein and oil data from 2015 trials was received on February 9, 2016 and the remainder of the analysis results was sent to all collaborators and participants on February 10, 2016.
9. The Annual Meeting of the Southern Test was held on February 23, 2016 in St. Louis MO. We discussed how to add the evaluation of more seed composition traits to the test.
10. The “final” Excel Formatted results of the 2015 trials were sent to all collaborators and participants on March 2, 2016 and to private breeders on March 8, 2016.
11. The annual report from 2015 is currently being formatted. The PDF version is scheduled to be distributed in March 2016.
12. The 2016 Uniform Tests are under way.
Did this project meet the intended Key Performance Indicators (KPIs
Continued participation in the testing program by public breeders indicates the utility of the
testing program. In 2015 there were 14 soybean breeders who participated by growing tests
and/ or entering lines. These soybean breeders are located in twelve states and represent
three ARS locations and ten Universities.

Expected Outputs/Deliverables -
The 2014 Annual Report was produced and delivered on a timely basis. 2015 draft and final analysis tables in Excel format were produced and delivered on a timely basis.

Describe any unforeseen events or circumstances that may have affected project timeline, costs, or deliverables (if applicable.)
None

What, if any, follow-up steps are required to capture benefits for all US soybean farmers? Describe in a few sentences how the results of this project will be or should be used.
The breeders utilize these results to make critical decisions regarding the advancement of lines and varieties towards release for commercial use. The data from these trials are used to justify releases.

The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years. And financial information after seven years. All pertinent information is in the final report or if you want more information, please contact the project lead at your state soybean organization or principal investigator listed on the project.
