Update:
The SSRP program continues to strive to meet the needs of our southern soybean producing states. During FY 13, the Southern Soybean Research Program met in December in conjunction with the USB/ASA Board meetings and Connections.
At the December meeting the board heard a presentation from Dr. Patricia Donald, USDA – ARS; on the jointly funded USB project, “Investigations into the Occurrence, Distribution and Impact of Nematodes in Soybean Fields in the Southern United States”. Dr. Donald is no longer with USDA –ARS but is currently working with the University of Tennessee.
The board also met and held its annual meeting during the commodity classic in Kissimmee this past March. Also at the annual meeting the board voted to fund the following contingent upon funding from the United Soybean Board. , “Development of Roundup Ready 2 Yield Soybean Varieties with Superior Protein and Pest and Pathogen Resistance” However USB did not fund this project so we are currently working to secure additional proposals for the board to consider at the December board meeting.
