1. All soybean accessions collected from 2011 to 2013 will be preliminarily characterized and documented in the AGI, and will be shipped to the MU project Principle Investigator following the USDA import regulations and seed quarantine procedure.
2. Several important agronomic traits, such as maturity, lodging, yield and yield components will be evaluated. Seed composition traits, such as protein, oil, fatty acids, and sugars contents, will be also assayed.
3. Disease assessments for soybean cyst (SCN), root-knot (RKN), reniform nematodes (RN), Phytophthora root rot (PRR), and other pests, will be conducted. Abiotic stress responses, like drought, flooding, and salinity, will be also performed in field conditions or greenhouse facility.
4. Deposition of the soybean accessions evaluated and documented to the US National Plant Germplasm System (NPGS), which will be publicly accessible to soybean scientists in the US and Vietnam for their study and breeding programs.
