The Southern Illinois University breeding program recognizes the importance of good germplasm and novel traits for helping growers to maximize their yield potential. The proposed project is long term, and it aims to continue the development, evaluation and release of new soybean lines with advanced combination of traits that increase and/or protect yield.
To achieve this goal, we will perform crosses between elite lines, evaluate breeding lines to identify desirable trait combinations and add genetic diversity to our breeding program.
