Currently grown soybean cultivars in Tennessee trace their source of nematode resistance to Peking via cv. Forrest and its derived cultivars, and /or PI 88788 via cultivar Fayette and its derived cultivars as well as PI 437564 via Hartwig and its derived cultivars. Soybean cyst nematode can adapt over time to all resistant cultivars developed and released mostly by the seed industries, because of the limited genetic base of the plant resistance. In West Tennessee more aggressive nematode populations are emerging and adapting to cultivars resulting in yield losses to the growers.
