Three field sites will be established in a soybean-corn rotation in eastern South Dakota for which grain yield, Carbon storage, and nutrient cycling of various farming systems will be measured in large strip plots over a two-year period. Farming system combinations will compare tillage vs. no-till systems, and residue removal vs. retained corn residue and all combinations of these two main treatments. In-season CO2 flux will measure changes during the growing season which may explain the change of soil carbon with and without crop growth. Grain yield differences among treatments will demonstrate the effectiveness of maintaining economic yields despite some aspects of the main treatments...

The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years. And financial information after seven years. All pertinent information is in the final report or if you want more information, please contact the project lead at your state soybean organization or principal investigator listed on the project.
