Honey bees are important pollinators of plants, including field crops. This project is investigating possible reasons for the decline in honey bee populations. Research aims to quantify number of honey bees visiting agronomic crops in Mississippi, identify active bee feeding times and duration in row crops, determine if neonicotinoid insecticides detected in crops have adverse effect on bees and determine when neonicotinoid levels decrease to safe levels for pollinator exposure.
