This is the third year of a study that builds on the results of a project done to determine the source of sediments in the Blue Earth River of Southern Minnesota. The Blue Earth River supplies the largest amount of sediment to the Minnesota River and Lake Pepin. One objective of this project is to characterize the extent of phosphorus sorption and desorption by river bank materials of various origins, locations, and depths in Blue Earth County. A second objective will assess the potential of these materials to adsorb and desorb soluble phosphorus discharged into the Minnesota River and estimate phosphorus transported by river bank sediments that originated as discharge from wastewater...
