Illinois producers have been concerned that soybean yields are not increasing as rapidly as they expect especially in comparison to corn. To better assess what changes in yield potential have occurred through the past 90 years of soybean breeding in North America, several cooperators are growing plots of a Genetic Gain Study. The Genetic Gain Study includes MG II, III, and IV soybean varieties that were released from 1920 to the present at locations throughout the soybean growing regions in the northern and central US and southern Canada.
