Brief Project Summary:

Conducting field studies determine optimum fertility levels for soybean and corn production in Louisiana. Research monitors plant tissue and soil samples to assess fertility effects and to refine fertilizer applications. Focus of efforts aim to determine approximate N mineralization and residue N levels following corn, demonstrate N recommendations across soil textures via on-farm demonstrations and evaluate the feasibility of using field portable x-ray fluorescence to accurately determine plant elemental concentrations in field conditions.
