This project involves surveying Louisiana soybean fields for viruses. Soybean mosaic virus, bean pod mottle virus, soybean vein necrosis virus, tobacco ringspot virus and peanut stunt virus have been found in previous years. Efforts aim to continue field surveys for soybean viruses, concentrating on peanut stunt virus and soybean mosaic virus, conduct greenhouse experiments that evaluate single and mixed infections of peanut stunt and soybean mosaic virus on soybean symptoms, and continue to evaluate the effect of soybean viruses on soybean yields.
