The goal of this project is to determine the utility and cost-effectiveness of aphid-resistant soybean varieties and communicate this to growers in Iowa. Specifically, this funding will allow mapping where buckthorn (the overwintering host of the soybean aphid) is located across the Midwest.
This mapping effort will aid in the effort to predict aphid outbreaks and determine where aphid biotypes can survive on the aphid-resistant soybeans over winter.
