Brief Project Summary:

Glyphosate-resistant waterhemp is now present in Illinois and is of major concern in soybean production. Confounding this situation is resistance to the primary waterhemp POST alternative (a diphenylether herbicide such as Ultra Blazer, Flexstar, or Cobra) which is also common in Illinois. Funding for this project enables the researcher to test waterhemp samples sent by clientele for resistance to glyphosate, diphenylethers, and ALS inhibitors. They will use a molecular test for each of these herbicide resistances.

The benefits to soybean growers are two-fold:

~ This is a service through which they can directly send us samples for testing; and

The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years.
