Brief Project Summary:

The goal of the Alabama Cooperative Extension Systems Precision Agriculture (PA) Program is to facilitate the adoption of geospatial technologies and site-specific management strategies. The use of these technologies positively impacts agriculture by helping farmers decrease application overlap and target crop inputs to where they are needed. This allows farmers to increase their efficiency in the field, maximize crop yields, and improve environmental stewardship. Adoption of precision agriculture technologies in Alabama has resulted in an approximate annual savings of $10,000,000 in chemical, fertilizer and seed savings.

Environmental benefits include an average 10% reduction of applied...

Project Deliverables

Activities include on-farm guidance, sensor and yield monitor demonstrations, precision ag research projects, state and regional meetings, and one-one-one farm visits to help Alabama growers in the selection and proper implementation of precision farming equipment.

Final Project Results

The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years. And financial information after seven years. All pertinent information is in the final report or if you want more information, please contact the project lead at your state soybean organization or principal investigator listed on the project.
