One of the major obstacles in achieving high soybean yield is loss due to stress. Accurate and sensitive diagnosis of stresses at the earliest stage is critical for proper management responses to mitigate yield loss. Often, these stresses go unnoticed at early crop growth stages due to the lack of visible symptoms. The research team will develop molecular diagnostic tools that can efficiently and accurately identify early stages of specific soybean stresses. The team will focus on drought, salinity, nutrient deficiency, fungal diseases and soybean cyst nematode. The goal is to develop a diagnostic tool to identify specific soybean stresses so that appropriate management decisions can be made and yield loss minimized.Key Benefactors: farmers, agronomists, plant pathologists, scientists
