The soybean yield was significantly higher (16%) with tile drainage in 2011. The 2012 crop year was dry, and the tile did not run during the growing season. Still, there was a small yield increase in the tiled area. In 2013, the tiled area only released water in June after a heavy rainfall. The rest of the season was dry until late in the season. In 2013, the yield increase was 7.5%. Over the 3-year period, there was an 8.5% increase in yield.
The soybeans grown on raised beds had significantly higher stand counts, vigor scores and yield. Iron Deficiency Chlorosis (IDC) scores did not differ between the flat and raised beds.
The iron-chelate compound FeEDDHA was applied to the seed before seeding. There was a slight decrease in stands for the Fe treatments. The IDC scores were similar for both the non-Fe and Fe treatments. There was no significant difference in vigor or yield with or without applied Fe.
