Iron deficiency chlorosis (IDC) reduces soybean yield in Nebraska and in other parts of the North Central region. This project will identify specific genes that could be used in breeding programs to accelerate the selection process to produce new IDC tolerant varieties, or that could be over-expressed in soybean to generate new IDC tolerant varieties. The overall objective is to perform the first non-biased, whole-genome search for root expressed genes that are expressed under conditions that cause iron deficiency chlorosis (IDC).
Identification of genes that could be used in breeding programs to accelerate the selection process for IDC-tolerant soybean varieties.
The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years. And financial information after seven years. All pertinent information is in the final report or if you want more information, please contact the project lead at your state soybean organization or principal investigator listed on the project.
