Brief Project Summary:

Viral diseases of soybean reduce both soybean yield and quality. There is no good treatment for plant viruses, and many are seed transmitted, so once a seed lot is infected with viruses, it is difficult or impossible to eliminate. This is a major problem for seed producers. In order for Nebraska soybean producers and seed producers to manage viral diseases, there is a need to develop genetic materials which are tolerant, or resistant, to soybean viruses.

This research team has completed a study that identified genomic regions, or quantitative trait loci (QTL), involved in the reaction to bean pod mottle virus (BPMV) infection in soybeans. They identified soybean lines with differing...
