Brief Project Summary:

Soybean cyst nematodes (SCN) are a major agricultural problem that is costing Mississippi soybean growers millions of dollars each year. The goal of this project is to use new technologies (massively parallel signature sequencing (MPSS) to identify molecular markers in races of SCN. This new technology should provide DNA sequence information that allows for comprehensive analysis of gene activity in SCN. The project's goal is to develop strategies that can be used to expand the resistance in soybean to all races of SCN.
