Variable-orifice nozzles are being supplied by a few tip manufacturers today while gaining interest among farmers due to their larger turn down ratios over traditional fixed orifice tips. The premise of these nozzles are to provide a larger flow range over typical sprayer operating pressures and in some cases a 1:1 flow to pressure ratio. However, these nozzles incorporate moving parts and springs. Therefore, we are proposing to evaluate the performance of commercially available variable-orifice nozzles. These tests will be conducted over 3 different flow rates for each nozzle type along with randomly assigning nozzles to 2 different locations (2 separate tests) along the spray boom....
The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years.
